Robert Wallace
1934-2014 Avon, CT

Bob was a true modeller from an early age influenced by his father. At the age of 15, Bob entered his first Nationals in Pennsylvania in U-Control Speed. This was the beginning of a life long hobby that would send him all over the world competing in FAI.

Among his many credits, Bob was president of Central CT R/C Club, CD of local contests, 1987 USA FAI Team Manager where the US finished 1-2-3 in Melbourne, Australia. He was also asked to serve as the Team Manager for the Czechoslovakian team which ultimately won the 1985 World Championship.

Along the way, he found time to produce many racing planes, U-Control and R/C Combat kits. He was contributing editor to RC Modeler since 1977 and drafted numerous drawings for the magazine. Bob was a long time member of the AMA R/C Combat Contest Board, an Associate VP for AMA District 1 in 2002 and was awarded the AMA fellowship.

Bob's true love was FAI Racing where he made many life long friends in Czechoslovakia, Russia and Italy. Bob flew his own designed racing planes and competed very successfully.

His love for aviation wasn't only models, Bob built and flew a full scale Corbin Baby Ace and several other airplanes. During his travels to Europe, he had the opportunity to fly different types of full scale aircraft in Germany, Russia and the Czech Republic.

In his own words, "So many of the wonderful things that I have experienced have resulted from my involvement in model aviation and would have never happened otherwise. The international experiences have been especially meaningful, exciting, rewarding and unforgettable."
