Re: Rules Refreshers
On the topic of engines I was of the understanding that when a person purchased an engine from a manufacturer you essentially received the next engine off the line, an engine that was manufactured to a set of approved tolerances, tolerances that are very tight and fair for all. I have at the same ti...

Re: Digital Prop Gauge
I discovered the reason for so much propeller run-out on some propellers. Much of it seems to be from the drilled hole not being true to the molded centres. I found that when I had drilled out Q500 props I drilled / reamed holes to 5/16 “ which is too tight and will lead to misalignment. To fix this...

Re: Lost plane buzzer
I found a flaw in use of this ViFly Lost Plane Buzzer
When it is plugged into the RX it consumes its own battery and after a while the battery is drained, and will not be recharged. These things appear to need to be unplugged physically when not being used.

Calgary mid 80's
I found a few pictures from a race in Calgary in the mid 80's. I think it was 1986, but not positive. The Western Canadian racing circuit was pretty active in the 70' and 80's.

Re: Digital Prop Gauge
I am using the molded centre as well the front and back face, as would be used in clamping a prop to an engine, I am not using the drilled hole. I have been playing around a bit to understand what is out on a prop that has .022" of difference on the leading edge high point, one blade to the next fro...

Re: Digital Prop Gauge
Hi Fizzwater2 Thanks for checking the formula, I have rebuilt the table, and have checked a number of propellors, you are right a good light behind helps to see the closing angle between protractor and prop. I built a worksheet to log props and help see through all of the numbers to determine averag...

Digital Prop Gauge
I have wondered for while if there was value in having a Prather propellor gauge, but was never ready to buy when they occasionally come on sale. That and having more time than money (retired) I thought I would make my own digital prop gauge. I have attached a couple self explanatory pictures in cas...

Thanks Greg, I may try to fix myself, shipping to and from the US / Canada is unpredictable.

Re: Can this be fixed?
Thanks
Not sure who made these, it was probably in the paperwork, I already bought a new one, thought I could have a spare, at the same time since I’m in Canada and the cost of mailing stuff across the border usually makes it simpler to throw out if it cannot be fixed easily.

Can this be fixed?
I have a FAI style glow driver. It went up in smoke a couple years ago and wonder if it is worth repairing. If you have an idea let me know.
See attached picture of area that overheated.
Thanks

Re: Lost plane buzzer
I tested out a jumper around the light sensing chip, and it works. I connected the device to a 2S LIFE battery for 2 hours for a charge and then placed the device in a dark spot for over 4 hours. After 4 hours it continued to operate, although the interval between beeps had extended too 8-10 seconds...
