Re: Shoestring Aluminum Spar Folding
Uavflyer, you know me and I have never had a problem. ;) But in all seriousness the aluminum is fine. You can switch out the aluminum for the carbon for some weight savings and additional piece of mind. The carbon is cheap on comparison to everything else. The original prototype shoestring from hori...

Re: EF1 national points system
Trey,
If you are willing to do it we can talk off line.
Dave Gavin, Lonnie Finch and Doug Kilebrew record the points for the other events. You can talk to them to get a handle on what is involved.

Re: Nats Check-in and Monday, what to expect?
Yes we need to look at the motor and also check the fail safe. I will compile a check list this weekend and get it posted on the main discussion section.
Rounds wise, we are planning at least 6.

No unfortunately, this is not approved.
Hobby King recently had a motor approved. However, this motor is not released and we have no additional details on when it will be released.

POGO wing tip extensions
To All: I just wanted to remind you that the POGO (http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/lr-1a-pogo-arf-15e-EFL4200) as sold today and previously, is short on wing area per the NMPRA rules. We allowed these airplanes to fly without penalty in 2012. However moving forward into 2013, if you plan to fly...

Ed,
You are correct. It would be legal. Why do you ask? Send me an email if you want to talk.

Re: Turnigy Aerodrive XP engine sk3 3542-1250
Unfortunately, this motor is not approved for use in the NMPRA EF-1 events. The old motor was discontinued and this motor exceeds our standards for approval.
Stay tuned, there are other motors that are in the works, and may be available early 2013.
Regards,
Dan Kane

Re: Electric Formula Rules (EF1) Proposed Rules
Ed, Because of the AMA cycle time it cannot happen in 2011. Having said that it still can be sanctioned similar to Sport pylon or "CLUB 40" which is also not an AMA rule book event. The rules that should be used are the most current NMPRA rules. Once we get our feet wet with some contests the rules ...

Re: Electric Formula Rules (EF1) Proposed Rules
Ed, Scott McAfee removed his proposal from being voted on this cycle. This was done to clean up small issues like the one you posted from the AMA site. The current rules have a 325g max rule. Therefore, this will not be a AMA event until it is re-submitted and voted on. Currently, the NMPRA is the o...
