Re: Advise sought

Jim's Nemesis thread shows what I love to be able to do. I did open the firewall and outlets on my Proud bird and made a balsa ramp to funnel air from the chin inlet upward to the opening of motor. It's a long winter up here, gotta do something to satisfy the BS that floats thru my head. Lookie-here...

Re: Advise sought

I tried high timing once, first heat of last years NATS, big mistake. Man it was slowww. I would try it again on stock timing. I heard a noticeable difference changing it back. Cooling is key too. Find Jim Katz's articles on RC groups for ideas to keep the speed up in the later laps. Cycling or usin...

Re: How cold do Lipo's go?

Hello Dan, Fast time is one thing, getting off the ground consistently is another. It just seems the Miss Dara is a bit tippy compared to other models, wanting to nose over on take off. I watched this from seeing 2 or 3 other models flying off of grass here in MN. I would have to own one to give an ...

How cold do Lipo's go?

Hello all, First the good news, I won a race this past weekend with my Proud bird. Had like 9-10 fliers, all seasoned quickie pilots who couldn't find pylon one to save there life or found each other in the air. Even I coundn't launch a Miss Dara to save my life. but I managed to have a perfect race...

Nats Check-in and Monday, what to expect?

Hello world, So I decided to make the trip to Muncie for the whole week. When I bring my EF-1 plane to check-in, I imagine I would want to leave the nose off so you can see the motor, maybe wave a geiger counter over my batteries to insure legality. What can I expect and how many rounds of racing is...

Re: Proud Bird EF1

Here's a pic, all done in the sun, time for some fun. one small can of Tamira spray paint got what you see so plan accordingly Strange, the tail feathers have no trailing edge taper, just blunt ends. Cost savings, or does it help slow speed stall? I've spent too much time sanding if that's the case....

Proud Bird EF1

I got my Proudbird done and flown this weekend. It needed 2, 3 clicks of down trim and away it went. The model rises off the ground without a fuss, straight and true. I flew the course and after a few clicks of right rudder, I had it tracking wonderfully around the course holding knife edge with eas...
