Re: Carb on a SS Nelson Quickie

There was a time that you could get an ST carb on a Nelson from Shadel. I'm guessing that Ola's may be one of those.

Also, several Control Line Carrier guys run Nelsons with carbs on them.

That’s right in Schmidt’s wheelhouse. He’ll get yelled at for sure.
50’ is pretty high, but I can make it work!

Real time video feed and records. 👍
I’ve been yelled at for breaking plastic pylons. I’d consider a drone an additional challenge!!

Yes
So you'd rather have one course worker error (early light) lead to a 10% or 1 lap penalty? Or a potential second error lead to a 200 or zero?

Re: Longer course at the classic.

At the worlds in 2015 they had a system where the worker at pylon 1 would do their best to anticipate the plane with a perfect light. If a plane made it they got a light instantly. if it didn’t, it got a light followed by 3 more flashing lights. This was instant notification that they were short. T...

Re: Longer course at the classic.

Hmmmmmmmmm. Me know how to fixem problem. Each pilot would have two callers. One to launch and indicate to the pilot on when to turn. The second caller would be at pylon one pushing the pilots own turn light button. The pylon one judge for that lane would still post cuts for that lane. This way the...

Re: Longer course at the classic.

Back in the day when I ran races I would instruct the pylon one people to not give a light until they were past the pole. This lead to massive anticipation and lots of free cuts. Later on I instructed them to not give a light until the plane was around the pole and on its way back. This lead to no ...

Re: Longer course at the classic.

When the unnamed person in Florida came up with the idea of the second pole, the thought was that the judge would push the light button when the aircraft turned between the two poles, or at the second pole if the airplane had not yet turned. I'd venture to say this is what has been happening, or els...

Agreed!
I won the Nats in 428 with an engine that felt absolutely worn out. It had almost zero fit or seal to it, and didn’t tach well (I actually used a tach regularly back then), but it unloaded like crazy.
