Re: Phoenix 2023

I agree with Lee. My first ever 3 pole competition was in January of 2020 at Winterfest and 2004 when I started racing Q40. I haven’t missed a year since and I have wonderful memories of great racing and good friendships over the years. Jim and his crew really set the bar for what a race event shoul...

Re: 2022 NMPRA Q-40 Chamionship race - Old Julian Airport - Liberty, NC - Oct. 8 & 9

It's a long shot, but is anyone else renting a car and staying at a hotel in Burlington? Before I rent a car, perhaps you would like to lower your expense if you have room for 1 person. I don't plan on having much with me since I'm told most of our equipment stays at the field securely. Let me know....

Re: The Vortex Challenge!

195 was lost in Woodland this year. I fixed the wing and paired with a different fuse and lost everything in a midair at the NATS. Can't complain about getting 15 years or so of enjoyment out of it..

Re: Mile High Results

Congrats to Hank and the club(which pretty much includes all race pilots in the Denver area) for hosting a spectacular event. I can see why others have talked it up in the past. The challenge at high density altitude along one of the best after race BBQ's I've ever been to made this event one to rem...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?

This was my first time at this event and was a real learning curve to say the least(not just engines but how the plane takeoff/flew/landed. My engine book is still in route back to me, but I can tell you for sure that I dropped the head down 3 from 11 to begin with and it ran really good and was com...

Re: Longer course at the classic.

Can somebody tell me at 200mph, how many milliseconds is 15’? I went down to pylon 1 and pushed a button when I first tried this and it was almost impossible to hold off hitting the light. The judges still anticipate and are hitting the button early(before the site pole), so the idea that you can so...

Re: Longer course at the classic.

Hi Rocket I won't speak for Roy or Jim, nor am I confirming the rumor, but I've been doing that for several years(at least 5-6) now at the Basin. This has dramatically reduced "lights and cuts" ,which are caused by a pylon one judge anticipating and pushing the button when the pilot cuts and then gi...

Re: Electric 424 Q500

The team concept is being tested in warbird out here in Cali. The team consists of a bronze, silver, and gold pilot and points are earned by each pilot individually and for the team. It's a contest within a contest so to speak. Each class has a breakout and in Bronze, you can bring anything you want...

Re: 2021 Cliff Telford Memorial Tangerine Race Report

Great job Lee for taking the time and effort to properly document and share the event on the forum. Thanks also to Freeman and family for his effort to host the event. This was my 2nd in a row from CA and I hope to come again if I can. The contest was well run and the food choice was among the best ...
