Re: Approved list up to date?

Chris,

Airplane wise... the list was just updated this past week.

What is missing from this list? What item should be shown that isn't?

Re: Motor Question

Kevin The difference is you would replace parts on your QM motor with stock parts sold by the mfg. and it is ok to disassemble your motor in QM. However it is not ok to go to McMaster Carr and purchase piston material and manufacture your own components in your garage. Rimfire DOES NOT sell replacem...

Re: NEW! NMPRA Application with Paypal

Kevin,

Yes, Scott plans to handle membership stuff at PHX. The only thing I ask is that you wait until he is done testing. He will be there for the week so he felt he would be done by Thursday.

Kevin,

As it stands today, NO you cannot repair the shaft on this motor.

1. You cannot take your motor apart.
2. You cannot replace stock items.

Re: Motor Question

So, in summery: Buy a motor, spinner, collet and prop. Put it all together without removing any parts. Ensure the collet is seated and you can not pull the spinner/prop off with your hands. Next, design your motor box and cowling around that. If it is an ARF and you are using something other then t...

Re: Motor Question

"SNIFF TEST" The NMPRA has said DO NOT DISASSEMBLE YOUR MOTOR AND TURN THE SHAFT AROUND! It can be done with out taking the motor apart. Just place the new 5mm shaft in and puss 1 out with the other 1. Did not take it apart!!!!!! Kevin If you remove the original motor shaft you have disassembled yo...

Re: Motor Question

Chuck I don't have a Rimfire motor so I have no experience with that adapter and spinner. What I saw work was a metal backplate and a plastic cone with two screws to secure it, they are transparent or opaque. I don't know who sells them. They do look like the spinners that George Parks is selling pr...

Re: Motor Question

No you cannot cut a groove in the shaft. No you cannot remove the clip. No you cannot push the shaft out the other side. As soon as Rimfire makes a comment regarding the whys and hows you guys can go after them. Quite honestly, I don't get it. In PHX, I watched a pilot, take a Rimfire motor, bolt it...

Re: Motor Question

For the record if someone wanted to run with an idea like this I don't have any reason to think this wouldn't work.

I drew this. This was my idea. I don't care if you copy it or sell it. I don't have a rim fire motor, I can't draw this to scale and see if it will work.

Re: Motor Question

"SNIFF TEST" seriously, what are you talking about? Nobody said you can't mount your motor backwards. Nobody said you can't build a new motor box to do this. The NMPRA has said DO NOT DISASSEMBLE YOUR MOTOR AND TURN THE SHAFT AROUND! For the record it was a product manager and not a tech that said t...

Re: Motor Question

Chuck, During the approval phase of this motor the NMPRA strongly urged them to change the shaft for those very reasons. RIMFIRE point blank refused. The NMPRA is very small and we provided no money for this product and therefore do not control it. We accepted it as is, because we wanted competitors...

Re: Motor Question

Chuck

You cannot modify the motor and the MFG does NOT recommend you turn the shaft around.

The NMPRA cannot support a modification that the MFG doesn't recommend.

What do you want to happen?

Re: Motor Question

All: The NMPRA has talked with MFG of the Rimfire motor, and they do NOT recommend turning the shaft around. Therefore, the NMPRA cannot support this modification. In summary, NO you cannot turn the shaft around and you definitely cannot modify the shaft by cutting a groove or by replacing it with y...
