Its an "active" hall effect device. The crank pin disrupts the magnetic field and the sensor senses this.

Hi Don, "From the photo it looks like you may be changing the plug on the Spektrum RPM Bracket Sensor. Since the other plug seems to be proprietary, that would make sense."
