Re: Rules - Battery question.
I'm sure DK or somebody will chime in, but I would think that the parallel harness would have to be included in the weight as it's needed to complete the battery package to essentially make it a 4s pack. But who knows, I could be wrong.

Re: Motor Question
Forgive me Kevin for I have sinned...I forgot to include "from other than the original manufacturer" on my post about pistons. However, I did say "having one made", which most people would realize that we don't have Jett or Langlois make pistons to order for us individually, and therefore would figu...

Re: Motor Question
Would it be legal to have a replacement piston made for a Q40 engine, even if it looked the same??
It doesn't matter if it's detectable or not! If it's not stock, it's illegal!

Re: Motor Question
If the original and replacement shafts aren't exactly the same, from the same manufacturer with the same part #, in the same orientation as the motor originally came from the manufacturer in, it's not in the same configuration it came in and therefore it's not legal per the rules...whether you disas...

Re: Motor Question
I have a Rimfire in the Proud Bird I flew at last year's Winterfest. I can't remember having any issues installing the spinner or prop with the stock setup, so I really don't see the big issue. As far as I know the motors aren't universal as far as mounting is concerned. Some are longer, some are sh...

Re: Motor Question
So something should only be illegal if it's a performance advantage? Why did you modify it?

Re: Motor Question
Kevin,
Does it matter if it can be detected or not? The rule clearly states the motor shall be "in stock configuration as provided by the manufacturer". If it's not as provided, it's not stock.

Re: Electronic Speed Controller No BEC in EF1
Being as the rule says "may", and not "must", I'd say you can run a separate battery to power your receiver and servos.b. Speed controller may incorporate a Battery Eliminator Circuit (BEC) which would eliminate the need for a separate battery to power the receiver and servos.

Re: Electric Formula Rules (EF1) Proposed Rules
Personally, I like the idea of it not being an AMA at first anyways. Like Dan kind of said, not being under AMA's rules cycle allows tweaking and improving as the event gets a following. Once everything's pretty much "right", it can then be submitted to become an AMA event.
