John McDermott Jr sent me some photos to process and post. Here is one.

This is from the 60's ... I think he said 1966.

Re: Some of my Dad's first pylon racers

Greg, You are correct that it was Asheville/Hendersonville Airport. The first Formula 1 race ever in North Carolina. I talked to Dad this morning. He can't remember exactly who was in that heat. Harold Haigler is launching the Rivets. You are right that Tommy Baker was calling for Dad. Apparently th...

Re: Help with your photos

So you can see what is possible with a good scanner and PhotoShop. This photo was scanned at 600dpi. It looks just like the photo. Lil Bit Before Processing.jpg This is the photo after using the "Auto Contrast", then "Auto Color", then "Auto Tone", then setting the Brightness. The trick is to use th...

The Lil' Bit

This is the Lil' Bit. It had a fiberglass fuselage. I have the molds and may have an ancient set of foam cores I can pull out and make wings te,plates with. I don't know if I have the plans or not. Hopefully I do. Lil Bit_Medium.jpg It had predecessors by that name. I will be posting a solid one tha...

Re: Stay Frosty

Cindy gave me this back in 2003 or so after I had been flying full scale planes from 1995 to 2000, then started back in R/C when we moved in this house in 2000. "Bearon" has been a constant companion sitting on the corner of my stereo receiver and guitar equipment rack in my upstairs office every si...

Re: Some of my Dad's first pylon racers

This is believed to be the first Stegall Minnow. It was a clone of the Stafford Minnow basically. Dad is not sure if he used the original airfoil or not. It had a wire landing gear. Dad carved the plug out of white pine. It was in halves. Not a single piece of wood. It was essentially cut to the sid...

As long as you do not store the radio with the antenna on, there should be no issues with it.

Re: Some of my Dad's first pylon racers

This was Jim Stegall's first fiberglass Formula 1 plane. It had a K&B Torpedo engine in it. I have some in boxes, but those boxes are on the bottom of my stacks of boxes. When I dig down there again, I will post a photo of one. This was a fiberglass fuselage foam core kit that was based on Joe Foste...

Joe, Thank you for sharing, I talked to Matthew about the Moteino. He looked at the specs and said it should be nice for building all types of telemetry os S.Port devices. He knew the processor and it's capabilities. Thanks for sharing the code. I only saw one modified .h file in the __MACOSX folder...

Some of my Dad's first pylon racers

This is my first memory of a pylon plane that my Dad Jim Stegall raced before Formula 1 / Goodyear was a thing. I posted it on https://www.facebook.com/rcpylonmemories/ and it was identified as a "Phil Kraft Go Go Fli". See https://www.modelaircraft.org/sites/default/files/files/KraftPhilipPhil.pdf ...

The Boni Toni as owned by John Brodbeck Jr of K&B

Johnny Brodbeck Jr and my Dad Jim Stegall were good friends in the 1970's when Dad was producing the Stegall Minnow. Junior sent Dad a photo of his Stegall Super Minnow, aka the Boni Toni, which was Dad's response to the Prather Little Toni. Brodbeck Boni Toni Cropped #2 lower resolution.jpg Dad got...
