Re: Miss Dara

I asked Dave Yost about cutting foam cores for the Estrellita and he was willing to do so. I believe he's a member here as well as RCG and uses his name as his member name on both sites. You might contact him if you want to build a foam core wing version of the Estrellita. Not sure if he could do a ...

Dan Kane-Jerry Small Estrellia's/Sharks kits

Thought I'd let everyone know that Mark Ackerman of Carolina Custom Kits has obtained the plans, the plugs and the permission needed to kit both the Shark and the Estrellita.

He's ready for your orders. carolinacustomkits@gmail.com

I'm pretty sure you can round off the leading edge but I'd wait for Dan Kane to comment or send him a PM.

Re: EF-1 on 5s battery

Craig, I think the reason is that there's only one provisionally accepted class of racing which is electric powered. Once you feel like you've gotten pretty good at running pylons with EF1 and want to go faster your option at present is to graduate to 426 or QM40. Not all of the folks running EF1 ha...

Re: EF-1 on 5s battery

Was just a guess. Someone's going to have to build a QM15e, fiddle with props, motor, ESC and battery combo's and see what we can get it to do for 10 or so laps around the 424 short course. I'm not much of a builder so I haven't pulled the trigger on a Rivets from Matney Models but if no one else wi...

Re: EF-1 on 5s battery

I agree with the idea of going to a QM15 frame and electrifying it in order to get more speed. With a bit of effort and testing I think we could identify a working and reasonably priced electronics setup which ought to get these airplanes into the 110 - 120mph range without too much trouble. I'll li...

You can try pm'ing him here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=247425 He posted that he was going to start offering Wagner Solution kits on RCG in January. I pm'ed him with interest in purchasing one but haven't heard back from him. That thread is here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...

Re: Rules - Battery question.

Fair enough gents. Appreciate both comments on my question. For now I'm willing to accept the answer. Dan, if you want to ask the rules committee for their opinion that's fine with me but I won't buy any of the packs I'd considered running in parallel just yet. As for more speed - I think Dave Yost'...

Re: Rules - Battery question.

Makes sense in some ways but I guess it depends on perspective. Would it make a difference if the parallel harness was soldered to the ESC side? ESC's and their wiring only count against the total model weight. Hopefully Dan's given this some thought and will reply shortly. Am needing to purchase a ...

Rules - Battery question.

Curious if one could run two packs in parallel and, if so, would the max weight of the battery at 335g be compared to the weight of the two packs or the two packs plus the parallel harness needed to connect them? Asking simply because I'd like to try the new Turnigy Graphene packs but the only possi...

Re: Painting on Monokote - New Option

3.51lbs is a nice weight to be sure. Will have to try it on a spare Proudbird after I strip it and sand it down a little to see what the weight gains are.

Curious if you could give an idea of how much weight was added from the unpainted covered model to the finished product?

Re: Motor Question

Am pretty sure that as long as you use the manufacturers parts you can indeed replace the shaft and/or bearings. Problem is that some of the manufacturers (GreatPlanes/Rimfire and Brodak) don't make these parts available. If you bend a shaft or have a bearing go bad then it can't be used for EF1 rac...

Re: new EF-1 kit

Of the ARF's I like the Proud Bird. Builds light and flies well. Don't pull too much elevator going around a pylon - the snap is wicked... With that admonishment it's otherwise a solid competitor.
