Well as you've already seen, the HSF spring race is officially in the books. Thanks again to all the racers who came out to support the race, without you there is no reason to have it. As has been come to be expected, we had our usual laid back atmosphere but with super competitive racing. And the workers from what I saw were the usual top notch crew.

I do want to say I'm sorry for the P1 issues we had this weekend. I know how frustrating it can be when you have to do a refly because of equipment issues. I thought I'd had it fixed but there is obviously something I missed. I've got a plan to make sure this isn't a problem for future races.

Saturday we had a little struggle with the weather. It was sprinkling on and off midday and we had to take a 20 minute rain delay right after lunch, but were still able to reel off 6 rounds (45 races) by 4pm. With the tight racing we had some carnage, I can think of 3 planes but I'm sure there was more, but most were able to come out without a problem. At the end of the racing we ended up with a 7 pilots 2 points down which gave us a 7-way tie for 1st. The best part was all 7 were super excited about flying off. Thanks to help from Chuck we figured out the order for the races so we got to racing. After the 3 preliminary flyoffs Richard Oliver, Joanne Coffey and myself came out on top and had to face off to determine the winner. At the end of the final fly off all 3 pilots bettered their fast time for the day. Joanne came in third, she was a tough competitor all day long, with a 1:03.52, Richard Oliver was just in front of here with a 1:03.05 and I was able to hold them off, thanks to my great caller AJ, and ended the day in first and fast time with a 1:02.78.

Sunday's weather was pretty much perfect in my opinion. It was overcast, which kept it cool and gave us some of the best air we've had in Wichita. Everyone was blistering fast and we had several photo finishes throughout the day. We again were able to get 6 rounds (42 races) in and were finished by 3pm I believe. And that was even with 6 or 7 reflies due to P1 equipment issues. Again the racing was tight and the planes were moving. At the end of it we ended up with no ties so we had no fly-offs. Neil Martin came in 3rd being 2 points down with 1:01.48, a personal best time, with his new MFL. Bet he doesn't miss his 20 year old Dagos now. Rich Beers was fast all day and finished 2nd, 1 point down, with a 1:01.92. Mark Martin set the pace early on with his Proud Bird and ended up clean for the day and end in 1st place and with fast time of 1:00.26. This is not only a personal best for his entire racing career, it's also the field record. I'm not sure he'll ever come down from the clouds.

The full results are shown earlier, thanks for that AJ.

Thanks again everyone and I hope to see you and many more at future races.
