Re: 2020 Q40 Points reports
I don’t see Mario Salazar’s name on the list? He won the Champ Race.
Re: 2020 Q40 Points reports
If we are going to drill down to that level, why was anyone whom had not paid 2020 dues permitted entry to the race ?
If you paid in 2019, But forgot in 2020, then paid 9 months of back dues to get current, Why would the win be disallowed?
It’s an AMA sanctioned contest, NMPRA is a special interest group of the AMA, he presented an AMA card to enter the contest, then paid his 2020 NMPRA dues the day after the contest.
I would sure hope the “reasonable man” concept would apply to a member that has given so much time and effort to support our sport on the West Coast.
If the race win (Points) does not count, then the NMPRA should pro-rate the dues and refund the first eight months.
If he had not paid in five years? Different situation all together.

Re: 2020 Q40 Points reports
I was not aware that Mario was not a member at the time of the race. I thought that his name was omitted in error. He most certainly deserves the win regardless of his membership status.

Re: 2020 Q40 Points reports
I think he ought to get the benefit of the doubt.. he's been NMPRA for quite some time, and after all, this is a hobby.. none of us are going to get rich and famous for what we do. Well, maybe not NONE, but most of us, anyway..
Out of all the places we could be, this is one of them.
Re: 2020 Q40 Points reports
This was partly my fault. Among all the other tasks to pull off a race in CA during 2020, I totally forgot to double check everyones NMPRA membership at sign in. It was brought to my attention after the race and I reached out and got a fresh copy of the NMPRA membership and emailed everyone that wasn't current. The majority of the non-current pilots who raced had already sent in their dues knowing it was a required for the Champ Race. Mario has been a religous member and was completely unaware that his membership had lapsed. While I know it's our responibility to keep our membership current, I would support an email going out when our membership officially expires to help those who want to stay current and simply needs a reminder.
