I thought I registered a few days ago, but I just checked and looks like I'm not registered, so I did it again.
See you there Tom and thanks!

Looks like the pilot who tested positive last Sunday has already tested negative. Everyone is good to go for the moon shot.
And I said, here am I send me.
Re: GCRCC/CAPS 20th MOONSHOT RACE.
I guess I'm now the "photo guy." People have been asking me to post images from the races. I suppose the more I oblige the more I'll be asked, so I'm creating my own monster. Anyway, it's Monday morning and I'm here in the car dealership while my wife's car is being serviced, so this is some good down-time to write. The number of photos I am motivated to capture during a given race weekend is proportional to my success and therefore my mood. If I'm not having a good weekend I'll probably be busy solving problems and not have time to walk around and snap photos. This weekend things were going pretty well and the weather was great, so I got a lot of photos.
First of all, thanks to Tom Scott for doing the heavy lifting and making the venue available. Also first of all, thanks to Tom Melsheimer for his knowledge, hard work and enthusiasm to virtually single-handedly conceiving and producing the PLATE system we have been using lately in the CAPS races. Maybe some minor glitches here-and-there, but I believe many of the past problems and signal drop-outs are officially a thing of the past. And the light boards are extremely visible and brilliant!
As for the racing, we were able to enjoy unseasonably great weather with low humidity and mild temps barely into the 80s and low winds also. The weather was so nice I didn't want to leave the field each day! And best of all, no cicadas this year!
I'm slightly embarrassed by my "low time" with my Q40 win. I had a couple of competitive races and I've gone much faster with this plane, so I can't quite figure it out. The only cut I had was the last heat of the day when I was all by myself. On the other hand, everything was working for me, I got good, consistent engine runs, got off the ground and brought my plane back home every time, so apparently that was enough - this time. Thanks to Terry Frazer for loaning me Mike DeNeve who did an impeccable job of calling for me.
I also had a blast calling for Steve Baker. It was a lot of fun working with Steve. He seems cheery, easy-going and flies great once he settles in.
Well, looks like the car is done, so I'll be on my way and will post more soon...
