TEXAS Racing September

Post by dwc1 »

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick line to remind everyone that we will be racing at the Brazoria County Modelers Association in Oyster Creek, TX the weekend of September 10. Please mark your calendars, and plan for some fast racing times. We are located less than a mile from the beach, right at sea level, and the air is always good.
For those flying in, the most convenient would be Houston Hobby airport,, although George Bush (IAH) is not bad. There are plenty of Hotels in the Clute, Lake Jackson, Freeport area, however, if you'd like a little better tourist spot, you could rent a house on the beach, which is less that 5 miles from the field.
We'll have a lot of fun at this race, so come on down.. I'll post more info in the coming days.

Morning gents,

I am planning to run all events. On Saturday we'll run 424 and 426. On Sunday we'll do EF-1 (428) and Q-40 (422).
Based on entries, we'll likely run 3 plane heats with racehorse start. I have a flyer posted on the homepage.
Field is located at 4094 FM 523, Freeport, TX 77541. 50'X50' concrete takeoff pad with slick grass landing. I believe the club is planning to cook lunches. I can't figure out how to get an image of the field pasted, however, if you Google map the address, and put it in satellite, you'll be able to see the field. The pits are covered, so no need to bring a tent.
The club is meeting this week. I'll post any update as needed.

Please plan to attend. This will be the first race in Texas since around 2006 or so. Should be a really fast race.

If you're thinking about coming to race with us, please post up, so I can give the club an idea of headcount for planning.

Hello all,

I met with the club last night, and everything is coming together nicely for a great race.
Transportation will be provided to and from the flight line for each heat. Poles will be up Friday for practice.
Please plan to attend. This will be the first race in Texas in a long while. I'm hoping it will be a success and become an annual deal.

My house is roughly 30 minutes from the field. If anyone would like, we can do a cookout at my place Saturday evening. I'll have the slot car track up and running to play with as well.

Tell your friends to come race with us. Post up, and let me know if you're coming.

So just a dumb question about 424 and 426 Quickie on the same day. As envisioned 424 Quickie was to be the slower, less expensive, entry level event. But that got blown up when we could no longer buy new $100.00 motors. So Dub Jett stepped up with a de-tuning package to restrict the 426 motor to 424 performance level. OK good so far, but here's the problem. If both Quickie events are on the same day it would be impossible for a contestant to run the 426 motor in the 424 event, unless you have several of them. It seems that one Quickie event per day is more equitable. Just my opinion. Greg

Update for everyone...

Looks like we have a pretty good race shaping up. I need a few of you "pros" to enter the 424 event. I've got 4 brand new guys coming that have never been to a pylon race entering 424, and they need some experienced guys to race with. 2 of them are juniors, which I'm pretty pumped about.

If you have any questions, let me know.
