It is with a heavy heart that I share with the community that Fred Johanson, the father of Billy has passed away this morning. Fred, has been battling some health issues of late. However, he was very sharp mentally. He will be missed by many. Fred was instrumental in developing the first off course lighting equipment used at the NATs for the CAPS group. Fred was the ultimate tinkerer, he always had a project going to solve some problem we all faced and his solutions were elegant and simple all the same.
I miss you already. Until we meet again.
The Kane family will keep all the Johanson family in our thoughts and prayers.

Re: Fred Johanson
Sorry To hear the news. When I was finally able to race seriously in the early 70"s I met and raced against Fred in contests in the Midwest. He was another fine gentleman who will be missed. Condolences to Billy, and the Johanson family.
