2023 Tavares Invitational - Pilot commitment needed
Posted: Tue Jan 10, 2023 12:24 pm
All,
I have been receiving queries about the 2023 Tavares Invitational... Our scheduled dates as have been in recent years (Covid aside) is the weekend after DST - this year March 17-19th...
Unfortunately the Basin race replacing Phoenix 'landed' on the immediate weekend before... which while the other side of the country appears will impact our attendance.
We do not have an option to move the date for Tavares this year... There is a small window to have an all weekend event without being too cold or hot... and other scheduled events at our field, committed workers already for our scheduled date, and a short runway (pun intended) till the date to make any changes.
So the question for the community, is there enough support for the Tavares race the weekend after the Basin?
Please let me know if you can commit to attend the Tavares race... If we have sufficient interest, I will send out a preregistration request. With sufficient preregistered interest, we will continue with the Tavares race.
For those committing to attend, what classes would you like to see?
Last year we ran 424, 426, EF1 on Saturday, and 422 on Sunday... We can do the same - or less... looking for your preference.
Based on response to this post - or to me directly - we will have a final decision by the end of January to allow for travel plans as needed.
LARKS as a club has supported 3 races, and 2 US Time Trials. We are happy to continue supporting pylon, but need the support of the pilots to make the event worthwhile for all and to justify the investment of time/effort from the club.
You can respond to this post, email me at pylon@larksrcclub.com or call me if you want to discuss.
Thanks!
