Greg Doe

Post by T.Doe »

So by now I'm sure some of you have heard that Dad had bypass surgery today 6-30-2023. 2 major blockages of 95% and 80 % in the same artery. They did a mid cab procedure where they go in through the ribs with a robot. the doc said everything went great. The family left tonight with the hopes of moving to a step down room tomorrow
Please keep dad in you prayers, it will be strange him not being at the NATS, see everyone in a week

The very cool part is they did not Split the Sternum to get to the problem,,, that's where all the recovery pain is and time to heal!!!!!

We are so lucky to be able to enjoy advancing technology!!!!

Our love to Dad and the Family!!!

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery! Thanks for the heads up, look forward to more discussions of "vintage" race planes with him.

Thanks for the update, best wishes to Greg. Who knew "go in through the ribs with a robot" would be a phrase you'd hear in everyday conversation?? :o :D

Cheers,

UPDATE ON DAD

As of today about 4 o'clock dad was moved from ICU to a step down room. He is doing good but looking and feeling a little rough. But he is moving in the right direction

To my three friends, and all my detractors, I'm well on my way to recovery. I had my 4 week checkup yesterday, and I got my drivers permit back. Everything is good except for my legs, and knees which were acting up before the bypass surgery. Thanks to everyone for their kind words. If you are interested, do a search for MIDCAB heart surgery to see what my procedure was. My doctors have only been doing it for about 2 1/2 years, and it's a game changer from what McDermott, and many others have had to endure. Be proactive. If your body is trying to tell you something, listen to it. My two blockages were in the artery they call the "widow maker". I wonder why? Stay well, and keep turning left.

Update on Dad
Dad had an incident last night that made him decide to go to the hospital. Kept him overnight for observation and ran tests. Today they put three stents in the artery on the back side of the heart, we did know that this was coming down the road but not quite this quick he's in recovery now.
