Conflicting Race Events

Post by airplanescotty »

Mr. Jim Marazon ran the line at Tangerine for over 20 years,, and was responsible for Tavares entering into hosting Pylon races and FAI Team Trials. :D

Since inception, Tavares, has been plagued with other clubs encroaching on their Race Dates, and have become familiar with the resulting impact! :o

A few years ago, an attempt was made to replace the 10 to 15 workers required to run a race with “Technology”, unfortunately,, to no avail! :|

So, People Power remain the critical path to host a race! If there are conflicting race dates, fewer pilots will attend and support each of the two races!

If the club is financially motivated to host a race, and the race is in conflict with another race, next years race may be a tuff sell!

In conflict with “The Basin” March race,, the 2022 Tavares Race with 22 ish pilots,, made approx $800.00.

Considering the number of workers,, about $3.50/hr/worker

Luckily, The Larks of Tavares, remain motivated to support “The Hobby” with March Pylon Races, and with other events!! :P :D

One final thought,,,, The club in DeLand Florida was in financial trouble, Scotty/SEMPRA~Club/We hosted a “Q-40 Only” race! The attendance was staggering, just like Phx,,, we ran out of room for canopies,, the race went International, and the club was immediately back in the Black ~~ Just Sayin!!!
