Torque Screwdriver (inexpensive)

Post by gsjames »

I thought I'd pass along the link to the nice torque screwdriver that I found. It's important to properly torque the head and backplate bolts when reassembling an engine after cleaning, etc. Using a hex wrench and your fingers isn't really the best way to do it since you never get the bolts tightened the same and you might strip the threads in the case. I found this one on-line last year and I'm very pleased with it. Most torque screwdrivers cost over $150. This one is a bargain and seems to be well made. How accurate is it??? I have no idea, but at least it's the same from bolt to bolt and you eliminate the danger of stripping the case. One thing, it doesn't come with metric hex bits, only SAE. So, I picked up a set of metric hex bits at my local ACE hardware store for a few bucks. Also, the torque screwdriver could easily take a socket attached to the included 1/4" drive and be used to properly tighten the glow plug to the desired torque. I hope that this is useful to you.
