The Evolution 46 NX with one-piece muffler is now available from Horizon Hobby.

You need to order the engine and a pressure tap from Horizon

•EVOE0461 - Engine
•EVO100114 - Fuel Nipple*

*Note: May be included with future orders

This is what you get after opening the boxes:

Install the pressure tap on the muffler.

Red threadlocker was applied to the tap prior to adding it to the muffler.

The remote needle valve and engine backplate were removed from the engine:

The stock 426 style mount requires some minor modifications to fit the Evolution engine. Darrol has mounts that will fit the Evolution without modification.

"The DCRC mounts on my website are a bolt on mount with out any modifications. It is the same one that fits the Nelson, Jett, TP-Pro and the Evolution...."

I chose to upgrade my existing 426 mount. A Dremel tool was used to provide some room for the engine cooling fins:

The rules now allow locking of the engine carburetor barrel in the open position. This allows for easy conversion from a 424 engine to a 426 engine if you wish.

I chose to use this option and locked the barrel in place with some adhesive (Shoe Goo).

The engine includes a remote needle valve. It appears that you can relocate the fuel nipple to fit your installation.

You should be able to attach the assembly to the fuselage with a couple screws.

Use a wrap around glow plug clip (like a glow plug igniter) to provide power to the plug. My clip-on type would not work as the blue coating on the head button keeps the glow plug from getting a good electrical connection.

Scott,

As an option can you just grind the fins down?? Also, can the throttle linkage be rotated so you could use a wire to lock the throttle open??

Technically grinding off the fins is an engine modification and is not allowed by the rules.
You could also wire the throttle open.

This last group of pictures shows changing from the 426 engine to the Evolution 46 NX. It only takes a few minutes to change the engine.

I added two quarters on the tail to compensate for the different weight of the Evolution 46.

We got this from Dub. He can provide updated mounts also. Here is his note:

I just finished a batch of standard mounts. I plan to modify them a few at a time, since I don’t believe I will sell many. When I actually get an order, I will make the mod.

Unless, you really want to get fancy (too expensive) I plan to just mill a slot for the fins to go down into. Makes it lighter, but probably not popular with the other folks.

Scott, What is the difference in weight of the two engines?

I was also notified that this mount fits as well.

Please remember to use the correct size bolts when installing a backplate mount. IF using the existing backplate and a backplate mount you will need longer screws.

The Evolution engine weights about the same as a TT Pro 40 and is about 2 ounce more than the Jett 426 engine.

DK,
My DCRC mounts come with the proper screws and do not need any modifications on the Evolution 46 or the TP40.
