This is continuation of the series of build tips on the Phoenix Q500 racer. They are based upon installation in a "Phoenix" that is currently being produced by Jim Lime (eight zero six - 553-5478).
The aileron horns come setup with Allen headed screws that will later be used with ball links.
The final length of the horns (to the top of the ball) needs to be approximately 3/4" above the wing.
A Dremel tool was used to cut the screws to the appropriate length.

The servo will also fit in the rearward section of the radio compartment.
Use a marker to identify the approximate location of the servo.
Use a pin to double check that you will not be cutting through the carbon fiber strips. If it is hard to press through the surface, then relocate the servo.

A hole was cut through the surface of the wing to allow the installation of the servo.
Two 1/8" strips of spruce were glued (with medium CA) under the wing surface.
A slot was cut in front of the servo for the wires.

The rods and ball links were removed. Red Threadlocker was applied prior to reassembly.
This will greatly reduce the possibility that they will loosen and come off.
