This is the third of many short tips on how to finish a composite Q500. They are based upon installation in a "Phoenix" that is currently being produced by Jim Lime (eight zero six - 553-5478).
This method is based upon steps shown on Darrol Cady's web site:
http://www.darrolcady.com/Carbon_Fiber/carbon_fiber.htm
The following are the basic steps:
1) Install ball links on 2-56 threaded rods
2) Shorten rods to approximately 1 1/4" beyond the connector
3) Clean rods with alcohol and sand the surface
4) Use Z-bend pliers to make ridges on rods
5) Apply rubberized CA on rod and end of carbon fiber
6) Join parts and apply activator to assist in drying
