Engine Installation - #5 Phoenix

This is the fifth of many short tips on how to finish a composite Q500. They are based upon installation in a "Phoenix" that is currently being produced by Jim Lime (eight zero six - 553-5478).

Tape the mount onto the front of the fuselage.

Drill holes for the motor mount screws.

Drill a 1/4" diameter hole for the engine kill. Note: Drilling a hole for the engine kill helps to prevent future bottoming out and stripping a servo gear. :P

Remove the mount and re-drill the mounting holes with a 3/16" drill bit.

Use a hemostat to hold the blind nut as you pull it into the firewall with the screws.

The screws were removed from the front of the fuselage.

The mount was attached to the engine.

The engine with mount was attached to the fuselage with screws.

The muffler style needle valve assembly was attached with a muffler bolt.
