This is the seventh of many short tips on how to finish a composite Q500. They are based upon installation in a "Phoenix" that is currently being produced by Jim Lime (eight zero six - 553-5478).

I copied my earlier Candy Kane fuel tubing installation in the current model.

The location of the supply tube and pressure tube holes were marked on the fuselage.

I used a 1/4" diameter drill bit for the holes.

A piece of stiff foam was cut to hold up the tank in the model.

The goal is to have the tank flush with the wing saddle when it is on the foam.

A piece of carbon fiber tube was taped on the bottom of the tank. It protrudes forward of the tank and it keeps the tank from moving forward.

A pull tab was made out of electrical tape. The purpose is to allow for easy removal of the tank.

Electrical tape is wrapped around the front of the tank. The purpose is to protect the tank from wing mounting screws.

Pieces of Gold-n-rod were routed through the holes in the nose of the fuselage. The tube was then pushed on to the fuel tubing. The tank was then placed inside the fuselage while routing the fuel tubing through the holes in the nose.

Here are a couple pictures of the completed model.

A 1100 mAH Life pack (2 ounces) was installed in the nose of the model and no additional nose weight was required to balance the model.

Some low wing tip weight was added for proper tracking through the turns.

The low rate control throws are approximately:
1) Elevator - 1/8" up and less down
2) Ailerons - 1/8" up and down

I've been happy with the model's performance so far.
