A small fraction of the racing public still build their models the old fashioned way.

I followed your building thread on RCU. I have 2 questions.
1) did you use 1/16 balsa sheeting or 3/32?
2) how much did your finished wing weigh ( before Painting)?
Thanks,
Jim

Kevin Matney can cut the cores for either 1/16 or 3/32 balsa. Use contest grade if using 3/32".

The glassed wing weighs around 16 ounces before you put color coats of paint.

The final wing with gear and servo weighs around 22 ounces.

Scott,
I am building a foam Q40 wing. Your thread is very helpful! In one of your posts you showed balsa sheets with weights written on them. I have 2 questions.
1) are the sheets 3x36 ?
2) Are the numbers in OZ. or grams?
Thanks,
Jim

The balsa that I used was contest grade or slightly heavier. My scale weighed in ounces.

Currently contest wood is hard to find. National Balsa carries it. Most of the time I purchased 4" wide sheets.
