I recently purchased a second Galloping Ghost Q40 pylon racer from Marcelo. Contact Marcello using Facebook Messenger or by email at marcello.wings@yahoo.com.br if you would like to purchase a model.

This tutorial provides more information about installing equipment and radio.

A Jett motor mount was installed using the provided 4mm bolts. You have to drill out the motor mount holes prior to installing the bolts. I then test fit the motor mount, engine, and spinner. Make sure everything fits before proceeding to the next steps. Remove the engine and mount. Apply finishing epoxy against the firewall, backplate, and on the bolts. Install the mount. Tighten and reinstall the engine and spinner.

A hole was drilled for the engine kill assembly. It was made by drilling a 9/32" hole for a piece of aluminum tubing. A 1 1/4 " long piece was put in the hole. Some medium CA glue was used to glue the tube in place.

For this model the servos are installed behind the wing.

I marked the location of the tray with a pencil. The tray was removed and some balsa rails were added. The servos and switch were installed on the tray. Shoe Goo was applied on the balsa rails and the tray was positioned as shown.

Lay the wing in the saddle and prepare to install the mounting bolts. Verify the wing is straight by measuring several locations. Once satisfied, tape the wing in place.

Marcello recommends the holes be located 5.5 cm between the holes and approximately 1.5 cm from the edges.

Drill and tap the holes for the provided nylon bolts.

The aileron horns are screwed onto torque rods. Use Red Threadlocker to keep from coming loose.

The pictures of the white wing show how ailerons are connected on a 2-piece wing.

The landing gear sweeps backward on this model. They were attached with the provided screws. Red Threadlocker was used to ensure that the wheels stay on.

Pieces of tape were installed diagonally at the cut line of the ailerons. This was done to reduce the possibility of aileron flutter.

I use double-sided Velcro to hold in my tank. You get the Velcro from Harbor Freight. The pictures below show the installation.

The pull wire is made by wrapping a couple turns of 0.032 music wire around a 9/64" drill bit.

The pull wire is routed to the throttle servo. Installation is shown with the pictures.

I was having issues with the shut off not staying closed after the radio was turned off. I updated like the picture of the green model.
