Invictus EF-1 ARF from Hobby King
Invictus EF-1 ARF from Hobby King
Time to let the cat outta the bag so to speak. I have been working with Hobby King to develop an ARF for the EF-1 class for well over a year. We chose Invictus, it's different and sexy looking. I have been flying the prototype for some time, and even took it to the NATS. I couldn't be happier with how it flies! It was designed from the outset to be an ARF.
Today I received the first production sample from the factory. I was not prepared for how nice it is! They have really done a first class job, and I'm sure will change some peoples perception of Hobby King. I will be putting it together over the next few days and will give a flight report soon. I am doing the instruction manual, so there won't be any head scratching or translation errors there.
It has a single piece foam core wing with vacuum bagged skins, fiberglass and carbon reinforced cowl, wheel pants & canopy hatch. The cowl is mounted with hidden fasteners accessible through the cheek holes, and the canopy is held on with magnets.
Now, to answer a few questions that are sure to come up:
I don't know when it will be released
I don't know how much it will cost
I'm not sure if this is the final color scheme or if they will offer other schemes or solids
I will add more information as I have it. More info here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1806527
Cheers

Red,
after seeing your work up close and knowing how you described the construction of this prototype, I can't wait o see it myself, I'm sure if HK duplicates this model with their production units, we're all going to benefit. Thanks for doing all the work and designing such an attractive model. Well done, Arch, the grumpy old man from Michigan.

Unfortunately no, they have gone quiet. I have sent another email and asked for an update.

Guys, I paid full price for my kit. They issue buddy codes when you do this. Here is the code for the invictus that lowers the price to $114 and change;
http://www.hobbyking.com/buddy.asp?code ... 594E295BF0
You have to log in to your HobbyKing account, or create one to use the code and get the discount.
