Is this kit still being produced?? If so, who is the contact? If not, does anyone have a kit they would like to sell?

Nitroplanes.com has just released the ARF kit for the Miss Dara.

Nitroplanes Miss Dara Product number: 28A05-Dara-Kit
http://www.nitroplanes.com/28a05-dara-kit.html

I have updated the list of Approved and Recommended Components to reflect this new addition.

Thanks to all the NMPRA individuals that worked with Nitroplanes on this project. It looks like a great addition to the E-F1 fleet.

I drew the plans for the original kit before it was sold to Nitroplanes. If I build a model from these plans I assume it will be legal for NMPRA EF-1. Correct?

Ed,

You are correct. It would be legal. Why do you ask? Send me an email if you want to talk.

Hi Dan,

I wanted to make sure that a home built kit that is no longer available, would still be legal. I definitely will not be purchasing any more ARFs.

Thanks,

Ed S.

Ed,

The ARF's have a market as the majority of current modelers do not build.

For the dedicated builder there are a few kits available. Matney's Models is one source:

Got my kit from Danny a while ago. My pops flew a bunch of Dara's back in the 60s-70s. Both the fat and high aspect ratio wings. Got him the kit for Father's day and am just getting it ready for the maiden and paint. Not the friendliest of builds, but still a great end result. I'm trying to keep away from the ARF's and still enjoy a real build. It will stand out against all the green and blue Dara's in Muncie.

Flies like a dream. Actually a little jealous of my pops now. It weighs 3lbs 10oz with a TP 60c 2700mah pack. Lil heavy but I hear the ARF is a couple oz's over that. Shmitty said his Dara kit that won the NATS is right on 3.5lbs, so can't be too bad.

Bought him the kit for Father's day and finally got it finished. My pops had about 12 of the old F1 Dara's.

The scheme is simple, but matches his last 2 Dara's from the early 70's.

:x :x I think this is old news, if anyone was not in the loop (like me), do not use, or at least modify your wing tube. If not the result is as bad as Nitroplanes customer service. 30 seconds into a maiden flight it failed. Apparently the tube provided was not the tube spec'ed out buy the original designers. I initially looked at the tube during the ARF inspection and marveled at how light the tube was (now I know). At least a third smaller than the inner diameter of the carbon fiber tube I run in my Shoestring. To bad as it was fast and flew very well for the 30 seconds till the wing separated. I provided details, photo's, and several e-mails. No luck with Nitroplanes (Shocker) said it was out of 30 day warranty. That the warrenty was voided due to crash. Said that I could contact the technical team, but they could do nothing for me as far as ARF replacment. The airplane was great, went together well, very clean and looked nice. Although I would think TWICE, long and hard while doing business with Nitroplanes!!!!!!!!! Very disappointing!!!!!!!!! Never again for this consumer!!!!!!!

I saw where a wing failed and customer service was a great disappointment.

I am a Dara fan from the 70's :-) I see the Nitro Planes add talks about a thicker Wing Spar, does anyone know if this is the Fix? and If Yes, is it effective??

Been on hold waiting to talk to Nitro Planes - for a very long time, so no help,,, once again :-(

Thanks
