Round 2
Time to make the parting board. This done so it can be a 2 part mold. This the top of the mold. Start out with mold clay to hold the plug in place on the back side of the parting board. Then on the top i use parifn wax to seal the plug to the paring board. Let cool down for a few hr. and start the job of scarping the wax to get a clean edge this is a 90 degree. So you can get a square edge.

Time to start making the mold
The first think I do wax the plug and parting board with Johnson paste wax. Let it dry and buff it off. Do this 3 times. Then time for PVA release agent,2 coats.
The surface I use is a aluminum fill epoxy surface coat. There is 2 coats. Let the first one dry to the touch just to leave your finger print in it. Then put on the next coat of surface coat. I do not let it start dry i start putting my fiberglass on. I do a 2 layer of 2oz ,then a layer of 4oz,and then a 1 layer of 6oz. Around the bolts I use to bolt it together,I mix up a batch of epoxy and cotton flock and Thixotropic Silica cabosil. This help hold up to all the bolting together.

This the second part of the mold
What you will see next is what I use to build up the mold. It is called pattern dough.
It has 2 parts 1 part is yellow ,and the other in blue. When mixed together it will make it a light green. I use a mixer for this job Thanks to Christy i have this for X mas. I use a board to roll it out to get it about 1/2" thick. Then use a glove and some alcohol to smooth it out. Then 1 layer of 6oz fiberglass to lock it all together. and let dry over nite.

going to the second side
Time to pop off the first side from the parting board. And get it ready to start the bottom.Start out by getting all the wax and clay off the what was in the parting board. To help me hold the 2 half's together before I put some bolts in,you see were I used a counter sink bit. When I do the other side if will make the counter part of them.
When it all cleaned up time to wax it 3 more times and buff it off every time.I also use some masking tape to cover the fiberglass from the first side, this so the second side will not stick to it.And so I do not get cut by it.
Time now to get the bolts ready to go in.This so when it is time to put the 2 half's together I can with 10/ 10/24 caps

Tape up the edge of the mold
I take some time to tape up the edge of the mold so I do not get cut from the fiberglass. Then wax and buff it 3 times. And put on 2 layers of PartAll #10

need to work on the bolts of the mold
Time to do the bolts of the mold. I use 10/24 Caps by 2.250" long. If you look they have a shoulder on them that work as alignment pins. And the nuts are some cheap thing I found on line some were. Why some cheap things they will need to be replaced after some use. And then just rip them out and replace them.

aluminum fill epoxy surface coat on side 2
Now back to some real work. I use aluminum fill epoxy surface coat,it make a great surface to mold off of.You can do repair to it if needed. But holds up to all of pulls out the mold.
Once the first coat is down let it tack up to were I can leave a finger print in it.Now go the second coat of surface coat. And let it tack up too.
Time for 2 layers of 2oz fiberglass, then 2 layers of 4oz fiberglass, and 2 layers of 6oz fiberglass. Also work some filled resin around the bolts too.
Get the mixer out 1 more time to help mix up the tooling dough. About 600 grams of each part, and mix till it is a lite green color. As you can see in 1 of the pics I use a board I made to roll out the dough so I can get it to 1/2" thickness.
Keep working it out till the whole thing is covered with this dough. If you did not make the right amount of dough just make some more and add it.
Then last thing to do is 1 layer of 6oz fiberglass and let dry over nite.
