Nelson RIRE F1 motor VS Nelson RIRE F3D?

Post by turbine_guy »

Can someone tell me what I need to do to convert a RIRE Nelson F1 to the RIRE F3D version?

Piston ,sleeve and head from SS Q40 (Higher ex port/timing/RPM)and of course a tuned pipe are what I’ve heard so far-

I prefer to run this new F1 engine as F3D (more Rpm,less noise ,no nitro corrosion/cost ,better life and sleeker airframes )

ED Smith wrote years ago that there’s other differences too…

ALSO -I’m looking for an F3D airframe for this engine -any condition considered -Not to compete- just for fun!

TIA

Piston and sleeve from a Q40 but FAI head not Q40 head. Glowbee plugs preferred but not necessary.
Now you're good to go.
And I said, here am I send me.

Ok, F3D /no nitro head- no double bubble in the head then - good news!

Just need to source a few parts-thank you!
