Mile High Challenge Results

Postby Hanknsd » Wed Aug 02, 2017 3:50 pm

Terry our local IT Guru has done some last-minute miracles. He has generated a link similar to the one that posted the NATS results. This link will display the Matrix and detailed pilot results online.
The pilots at the race are encouraged to use their smart phones, I pads or laptops to follow the heats.
If all goes well our goal is to be paperless. No score cards or Matrix sheets.
He is also trying very hard to have Wi-Fi on site. We may have another electronic surprise if all goes well.
The link is up and running now but will not be updated till Friday evening.

thanks, Hank & co! Now those of us that can't make it will be able to follow along, too..

Sounds like the weather you requested will be great, and I hope you all have a great time!

Out of all the places we could be, this is one of them.

Hank and his team at Jefco Aeromodelers once again put on a great event. They have enthusiastic workers, and a smooth operation. Hank works hard to make sure everyone is accommodated and has fun.

This year we had challenges due to storms moving through. Saturday saw the demise of several pop-up tents, but quick action saved all airplanes from damage.

The food was fantastic. Full Texas-Style BBQ with 4 or 5 different meats, home made breakfast burritos, and a great evening at the Neff residence. Even if you just went to Denver for the food, you had a great time.

This was Rich Beer's weekend. He kicked @*$&@. He has an awesome team and keeps winning. It is a lot of fun racing against him, but it is getting more and more difficult to come out on top. He took home the cash in both classes, totaling $1500! Well done Rich!

The Jefco club experimented with online results, extending what I did at the Nats. We are learning together, but they set a new standard with big-screen displays of results. Everything Hank institutes is done to make this a class event. I look forward to next year, when I can take down Big Richard. Maybe. I hope.

I will second what Mo and Chuck said, it was a GREAT race (even though at times I was feeling a little rushed between heats :D) So, a big thanks to Hank, his wife and Craig Farthing, they along with the club, Texas BBQ men, the Neff's, our starters and the Computer wiz that built that fine system really made this a success and uniquely special race. I commend you and everyone else that contributed!

Also need to thank Brian Neff for the "flying lessons" he was giving - and gave me - especially rounding Pylon 3, so tight it was truly worth the price of admission. Much respect!

Rich and Duane were the Juggernaut team and truly deserving of their rewards, as were Chuck Thompson, Scott Hartman, Kurt and Mo as well.

Looking forward to the coin toss next year,

Danny Coe

I'll jump on the bandwagon and agree with all the previous posts that this is a great event to attend. Nice field with a good shot of the course to watch all of the action. The format can make for some rushed moments, especially if you're calling for multiple people, but Hank does a good job of accommodating the needs of everyone and slowing things down when needed. Now if I can just figure out how to get around all the poles and to keep Coe from trying to take out my airplanes I'll have even more fun.

Hank asked me to upload some photos. Not being super selective here, just getting you a flavor of the race day. Beautiful facility, great workers.

The pits had lots of tents Saturday morning. Not so many that evening! Everything looks sunny and green beforehand!
