To my friend Dave Yost. If you want a long lasting non-yellowing clear coat on your balsa structure then use nitrate dope and silk followed by your favorite brand of urethane clear. Yes silk and dope for all of you kids out there. Von Der Hey.

Dave, If you look closely you can see a difference in shading or yellowing on the center section of the wing. This is where the glass cloth is that was applied with MGS Epoxy Resin. However if you look at the wing from the red starburst stripes to the wing tip you will see little or no yellowing. This area was finished with silk and Nitrate Dope with PPG urethane clear over it. The airplane is now nine years old and that area still has not yellowed. Please understand that even the best epoxy resins will yellow with age. Von Der Hey

Looks Great Lee! ...Thanks.

Brings me back to the 80's when I was just a kid, going to pattern contest and sitting down at pylon 1 at Boarder Field State Park, hoping that someday I could afford to pylon race!

Do you still have that little Pitts that was done in the same media (s1 I think it was?) had a little Four Stroke in it?

Cheers, Dave
