Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
Mr. Brown, The cover of the November MA magazine is fantastic, you represent the hobby well. Take a bow. I won't tell anyone you hold your engines together with bailing wire. ;) The uninformed will not understand. I've rigged my share of with JB weld and tie wraps, but you offer a simplistic approac...

Re: Your latest creation
I used to fly Doug Brushaber .15 size Sharks , what a nice flying, but evil to build wing out of balsa and foam. I remember having to sand concave into the top of the airfoil to get it right. I love that wing shape and the tail. I imagine you can go as tight as you want around pylon 3 with a tail li...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
aw come on , put it back. I was digging it. There's nothing else to do this time of year :P I wonder what a 7.6 prop would have done being timed under 198 degrees of timing . what did the plug look like ? Did it offer any clean jump onto the pipe ? Try doing the choked start thing , choke it for 20 ...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
To put another spin on it, Real motors have windings. Get it, spin? Now that you're thinking clearly, lets say we go back to the beginning and try to apply what we learned thus far. My angle is to make what I already have work as best as possible, without having a bin of pistons or piston return spr...

Re: Your latest creation
if you are Tom then this is your model? A Too Sweet from CMAD racing? I have it turn key ready but fail at painting and at this moment is sitting white again, never mind how I got there and back. I have another set of decals and will simply make use of some trusty Rustoleum and wait the required wee...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
Someone let this thread fall to page two, so much information here. I decided to take little bits and pieces of what I learned here to help me find where my ideas of engine operation play out. And since the weather is crap, its time to bench race I am going to put a new top end in a small flange and...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
Hello all, Taking all the wisdom from Mr. Browns words, I present something.. What I want for myself, are alternate ways to choke an engine other than asking someone to stick their finger in harms way to choke the intake. Is there a butt plug, uh an exhaust outlet method that could be used to keep t...

Re: Latest and greatest timing and deck height?
Speaking of low nobility , how you doin, Lee? :D I wonder if the brass cone used at the front of the crank contributes to that corrosion in the croak of the crank, hence the need of a anti corrosion crank croak process to keep the front of the crank connected to the croak. On man, is it Friday yet? ...

is this NATS legal ?
Proud Bird with a not so proud tail skid. I lost the tail wheel and replaced it with a skid. I can take off as is just fine.
Do I need to have it be just like the model was designed and was built? Just wanna know before driving 900 miles. I can cobble one on if needed.

Re: FAA Registration update
Lee, It's not the aircraft you are registering, it's you. But I feel your pain. It sucks. Just like Mr. Reagan said when the govt says,"we're here to help you", watch out. But I wanna race and if that is what it takes, then so be it. I'll wonder of better days of the past and move on and beat everyo...
