2022 FAI World Champs and 2022 US team Trails

Post by G.Freeman Jr. »

The 2022 WC are coming up quick and there has been lots of talk around the group, but I haven't heard anything official. Couple question I am sure a few of us have.

1. There is talk the WC is still not 100% for sure going to happen based on travel restrictions being in place. What is the path forward as we know today?
2. There is also word that there will be a team trails shortly after the WC. If so, are there any bids in yet? From what I understand there is a deadline per the AMA bluebook to submit a bid.
3. Who from the US is heading up all the FAI details?

Thanks in advanced for any info

Coleen at AMA was the FAI person when Tavares hosted the Team Trials a couple years ago.

Terry Frazer is our FAI Official Judge/Referee person.

With regards to travel restrictions, it's the flight home everyone is worried about! If you test positive, you're are not going anywhere!!!

Hi Boys,

I suspect that the WC contest management will be sending out a bulletin soon requesting an approximated pilot and team attendance request. Based on the information from that request, I suspect the contest management will make an informed decision on whether on not to proceed with the World Championships. You have to remember that the world is in a different situation these days with Covid and travel restrictions etc. North America is better off than many other parts of the world. Canada is green for go but we are just two flyers and a team manager maybe. We may have to hire some pit bitches!!! :-)
Stay safe boys.

As Roy indicated, an official bulletin will be released shortly with some key dates. As of right now there are no indications that the WC will be cancelled.

Regarding the next WC and the US team trials. I cannot answer this, as I am not part of this process. My understanding is that the WC is going back to an odd year cycle which means another WC in 2023. Therefore, my guess is that a US team trials will take place in 2022. Who? When? no clue
