Red Barron Equipment Installation
Christmas came a little early this year (May 1) when I treated myself with a pair of Red Barrons from Karl Harrod. I contacted Karl by Facebook messenger where we discussed the specifics.
Many thanks to Karl, Dean Stone, and Tim Lampe for information on this project. The paint job is a red and black version of Tim's model (his is white and black).
Below are pictures that show what was received:

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
I began by verifying the engine and muffler fit in the provided mount.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
I followed by fitting the remote needle valve assembly in the mount. My goal was to be able to tighten the packing nut without removing the engine. Below are pictures showing one way to do it.

More pictures:
The hole was enlarged to fit loosely around the fuel tubing. This helps keep the fuselage side from cutting the tubing. No grommets are required if the hole is loose.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
Below are more pictures on the tank installation.
Double sided Velcro supports the rear of the tank. The tank should be as high as practical.
My second model is equipped with a Tettra tank. The last picture show that installation.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
The servo will be mounted on the left hand side of the wing. The servo horn should be located approximately 15 cm back from the leading edge of the wing.
Shoe Goo is used to attach the tray underneath the wing sheeting. CA will also work but has less vibration resistance.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
I waited until the following morning to allow the Shoe Goo to dry.
A hole was cut for the servo and it was mounted.
The 1 1/4" x 6-32 bolts were installed from the bottom of the wing. Red lock-tite was applied to the threads and the screws were tightened.
Horns were attached to the bolts. The horns were not included in my kit.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
The following pictures shows the installation of the rudder pushrod, tray, and servos. Karl provided the pushrod and tray. He encouraged their use.

More pictures:
A z-bend was added to the pushrod. It was test fitted.
Remove items, then apply Shoe Goo to the tray and reinstall. Make sure the servo and rudder are centered and allow the glue to dry.

Re: Red Barron Equipment Installation
A flat area was made for the installation of the receiver/gyro.
Begin by cutting out a piece of balsa for the receiver.
Level the fuselage and then sand the balsa until it is relatively level.
Mix epoxy and attach.
I used a string level to verify and adjust for level.

Below are pictures showing how to make the wire loop used in an engine kill.
The bit used was 9/64" and makes the correct sized loop for the shutoff
