Thanks Doug for what you do to keep up with the points. I did points for 3 events back in the 80's for my district, before computers became a common tool, so I know what you are dealing with. I talked with Trey about 10 days ago, and we discussed several topics, including the 426 points. I waited to post here until I saw that several others had posted, and decided to chime in thinking that you had a more direct access to the membership status. Thanks for your informative post, and I'll give Trey and Shane time to get you up to date. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to the NMPRA and all the volunteers that keep our model airplane racing going.

If you went to a contest, entered on the AMA form and your name was loaded into the matrix, why would the points not be on the list?

I get the 5 pilots for AMA to consider it a contest, but if only 3 show up, the NMPRA can't track the points?

Section 4.5 of the AMA Competition Regulations for Pylon Racing: "Any decision concerning points shall be made exclusively by the NMPRA and are not subject to AMA's protest procedure"

It seems to me that the NMPRA can simply award the points, regardless of how many showed up? (especially considering 424 is on life support)

Cheers, Dave

I am paid for 2022 and I am 100% in support of the NMPRA and AMA.

BUT....Where exactly does it state in the NMPRA ByLaws or AMA Competition Regulation that you must be an NMPRA Member at the time of the contest to have the points awarded?

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Please see Article 14, Section 1 (c) of the NMPRA By-Laws.

Happy New Year everyone. Thank you for your patience as I worked this out.

Thank you Trey for posting the rules as outlined in the bylaws. For those that didn't read, if you are not a member of the NMPRA at the time of a race, you will not get points for the race. However, the bylaws specify that if you renew by March 1st, you will get points for the year. This should only affect Phoenix. The main thing is to get yourself renewed, or a member for the first time by March 1. That way there are no issues with any points you could have received.

There were a few things on the points this year. I did learn something about the spreadsheet this year that does the calculations on how things are sorted. I had not had the issue before. I know what happened, so I will be able to make sure that doesn't happen again. It did affect a few folks; Leo, Jerry, and Phil were the three that it affected the most. That has been corrected. Sorry for my mistakes on this.

Hopefully, all things are now correct. I went through everything again. I verified all of the races, membership and renewal dates, Trey also provided an update on membership.

Lastly I want to put out a call for help. If you are interested in seeing how all of this works, there are currently two openings that need filled.
1. Dave Gavin was the 424 points coordinator. He passed away a few years ago. No one stepped up to take over the 424 points duties. Dan Kane has filled that role for the past couple years; he is also the EF1 points coordinator. It would be great if someone stepped up to take this over.
2. You may notice that there have been no newsletters for the past two years. Linda Brogden was the editor of the newsletter for many years and stepped down two years ago. No one has stepped up to fill that role. This, there have been no newsletters the past two years. Again, it would be great if someone stepped up to be the newsletter editor.

Thank you and looking for a great 2022.

Doug
