DK:

I can appreciate the worker issue. I in no way was trying to sleight the Champ Race. I think it was well run, and the workers were the best I have seen in quite some time. Spot on. I recognize that in some cases workers can be hard to find, and it saves 2 or more slots to go to 3 lanes. That said, it also adds to the worker time as much as to the pilot time.

I was numerically using the Champ Race as my example because it was fresh, and it was also to some extent a trial of 3-lane racing for a larger race.

If the PHX crew were facing a worker issue they would not be looking for pilot input. My interpretation is that they wanted to get a feel for pilot position on this issue.

Thanks for your clarifications!

Hello Racers
Please see a CORRECTED version of the flyer and entry form for the Speedworld Q40 Classic.
The phone number for the hotel group rate has been corrected. Our apologies for any frustration this may have caused.

Please get your registration and payment in EARLY. Interest in the race is high. We expect a good turnout. We have not established a maximum number of pilot entries at this time but this will be considered so that we can provide a good race for all. We will strive to complete eight rounds over the two day race. Entry cut-off date is Jan 25th but please get your PAID entry in early.

Hey Guys,
The planning committee for the Phoenix Q40 Classic is working diligently to put on a successful and fun race for all. A couple of reminders for everyone who is planning to attend:

1. We need you to complete the entry form and PAY THE ENTRY FEE prior to January 25th. Entry deadline is January 25th. Interest is strong and we are receiving entries each week now. We are considering capping entries at sixty pilots. The first sixty registered and PAID pilots are in. We will manage a wait list in case of cancellations. Pilot teams are limited to three per team. See attached entry form.

2. Official practice days are Thursday and Friday prior to race weekend. We have a large residential subdivision within 800 metres of the race course. For this reason, there will be no practice flying on Saturday morning or Sunday morning prior to the first heat. We need to minimize noise impact on the residential subdivision.

3. Fuel will be available to purchase for practice.

4. RV dry camping is allowed at the field beginning on Tuesday evening prior to race weekend.

Remember - Don’t delay, enter today !

See you at the races,

Randy S.

As part of Tom’s team at the NMPRA championship race last summer, I was impressed with the poker chip board method of getting racers up to practise in an orderly manor. There were only a few occasions where racers and their callers could not easily get out to practise together and these quickly solved. I hope Dan will bring this method to as many races as he can, it is simple, low tech and pretty goof proof.

The Hotel is not seeing very many reservations at the discounted price. If you want a room you will need to reserve it ASAP- Ask for the SpeedWorld rate on the room to get the discount.
